Mercer bias skirt

Bias midi length skirt sewing pattern in US sizes 00-18

$15.00

Mercer bias skirt is an understated midi-length bias skirt that is a classic slip style that you can dress up or down. It’s cut on a bias for a flattering drape, has an elasticated waist for a flexible fit, and falls to about your mid-calf. Designed to be worn at your natural waist.

This style is designed to be fitted at the waist and slightly loose at the hip. Two samples shown here are made from silk: the first version is a simple unlined silk charmeuse, while the second version is a 3 ply silk crepe de chine lined with silk charmeuse. Models are both 5’10” and are wearing size 4. Size up one size if you prefer a looser fit.

This pattern is super versatile and the easiest to make out of bias patterns in the collection. You can easily adjust the length, keep it unlined, or add lining to suit your body proportions and preferences by following the notes on the pattern. All seam allowances are included.

Suggested fabrics: medium weight fabrics with very good drape without stretch, such as crepe, charmeuse, satin, and crepe de chine in silk, viscose/rayon, acetate blends as well as synthetic blends.

Estimated yardage: 45″ wide fabric, Sizes 00-08: 1.9 yards/185 cm; Sizes 10-18: 2.25 yards/200 cm.

54″ wide fabric, Sizes 00-08: 1.7 yards/153 cm; Sizes 10-18: 2 yards/190 cm.
