We will meet five times on Sundays starting September 20th. Each live session will take place on Zoom at 12:00 noon EST on the following dates: September 20, 27, October 18,25 and November 1. All sessions will be recorded for later review.

If you’re interested in learning skills to elevate your making practice, I can’t recommend this course enough. Some sewing experience is required, but Eira’s videos walk you through the entire process of constructing the coat and the hand-sewing techniques. She also provides a really supportive environment if you have questions or need any support in the process. She also responds to questions very quickly, which I appreciate. I’m someone who really cares about detail and craftsmanship, so I loved learning all the techniques Eira provides to get a really beautiful finish.

This review is for the Mulberry coat course. I took the inaugural version of this course and was completely thrilled with it. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever taken a sewing course before, so I didn’t quite know what to expect. But I was looking to learn new skills after sewing for many years, and treat myself to something fun. This course will equip you with every detail that you need to make a highly professional beautifully finished double faced coat. The weekly zoom was always quite fascinating, Eira shares a lot of her knowledge from her professional career in the fashion industry. The YouTube videos showing techniques were extremely helpful, because you could go back and watch a couple times for more complicated techniques and at your own pace. I loved this class. Definitely my biggest – and longest – sewing project, but so satisfying that I’ve been wearing my Mulberry Coat non stop throughout winter. I wasn’t very experienced with hand sewing and at the beginning I doubted to be able to sew almost an entire coat by hand but thanks to Eira suggestions and techniques, the entire process was totally doable. Totally recommend even if you are an adventurous beginner: it’s a time consuming project but not complicated at all.

The Pattern Lines’ Mulberry Coat sewing course was one of the most rewarding creative experiences I’ve had. From start to finish, the course was thoughtfully structured, incredibly supportive, and packed with practical techniques that elevated my sewing skills to a whole new level.
The quality of the video instructions are next level – clear, well-paced, and full of helpful tips that made even the trickier steps feel manageable. I didnt have any moments of frustration like I generallly do when I am following other instructional videos (you all know who I might be talking about). It felt like I have Eira right there with me, guiding me through each stage with confidence. Plus if you do have issues, there is always access to Eira or the greater group in the slack community.
My coat turned out beautifully and feels like something straight out of a Designer store. I am stunned that made the coat myself!

There aren’t many online (or even offline!) resources to help us inspire, understand, and recreate luxury RTW techniques that seem unattainable. This applies to both the Mulberry coat course and the Shirting Techniques course.
Eira’s ability to dissect and teach us these construction techniques is genuinely a rewarding learning experience. My sewing has improved considerably since I started taking these courses. Being in a class of like-minded people striving towards the same goal is extra motivation that I will now make the most of (again!) to complete my Mulberry and begin the new Vestry pattern.

Believe me, no matter what I write in this review, it will never be enough to express my feelings, the joy and gratitude I feel for this sewing course! This is hands down the best sewing course I have ever taken. Not only you end up with a high end “couture” coat that costs a fortune to buy in stores, but you learn a ton of interesting industry standard techniques and sewing practices that no one else can teach you! Plus the process of making the coat is itself a beautiful journey, a meditative and immersive experience (involving a lot of handstitching) that you might even find yourself somewhat changed by the time you get it finished. Eira is the most wonderful teacher one could ever ask for. Full of in-depth experience and knowledge around sewing, techniques and fashion, with an amazing capability of transmitting this knowledge and generously sharing as much as she can. She is always inspiring and encouraging and she devotes as much time as needed to help each one individually.
I took this class the first time it opened up without even knowing exactly what we were going to do. When I finished my coat a few months later I couldn’t believe my eyes. Wearing this coat makes me feel like a goddess. And it’s important to note that it doesn’t require any special skills or advanced sewing techniques, mainly some patience! I would recommend this course to everyone who’s interested in expanding their knowledge, enhancing their techniques but also to everyone who enjoys slow making and not-so-instant gratification projects.
You will end up with a coat you will not want to take off and that you will cherish for lots of years to come.

I’ve made most of Eira’s patterns and taken both courses. I can’t speak highly enough of her skill, experience, generosity, and of course her style & taste. This course in particular was a gateway to so many new techniques and incredible inspiration. It brought together a group of amazing sewists who enhanced the course with great ideas, questions and motivation. And I love that Eira teaches with thoughtfulness, patience, precision and an open mind.
I am technically a size or two above her range, but the Mulberry has plenty of ease and Eira worked with me to refine the fit. I ended up making a regular-constructed coat out of my toile because the fit was so good. I wore it all last winter, and received so many compliments on the style & fit. I’m halfway through my 2nd Mulberry in the doublecloth wool. Side note – if you’re worried about sourcing the fabric, Eira and previous students continue to update a resource page & Discord channel with links, photos of samples, shipping info and even a phone number for a double cloth specialist at Mood who can find you deadstock from the best fashion houses.
Yes, this is an investment of time & money but you’ll end up with a coat you’ll cherish for a lifetime and knowledge that will improve everything else you make.

I can’t recommend this course highly enough! Eira is an excellent teacher and an extremely generous person in sharing her knowledge, which is amazing in breadth and depth! I don’t think you can find this quality and quantity of information on high-end sewing techniques anywhere else. I wasn’t able to start on my coat last winter due to a busy and pressing personal schedule (but I did make and perfected a muslin with Eira’s guidance) but I feel absolutely confident to tackle the task having access to the course videos, materials and Discord discussions. Eira is very responsive to any issues that arise, relevant to fitting, alterations, special requests and sewing techniques. This is an investment well-placed!
