A CURATED DEEP DIVE INTO SHIRTING TECHNIQUES
Is there anything more versatile than a shirt? Maybe jeans and a T-shirt—but shirting comes close.
This course isn’t about learning how to sew a shirt from scratch. It’s for those of you who have already made a shirt (or several) and are ready to elevate your craft. If you’re interested in the techniques that make a shirt truly refined—think clean placket finishes, flawless collar transitions, sharply pressed edges, and sleeve plackets that impress from both sides—this class was made for you.
Over the years, I’ve taken apart and analyzed countless luxury and vintage shirts, studied their construction, and tested method after method in my own studio. This course is a curated collection of those techniques: the ones that stood out, stood the test of wear, and made me want to share them with others who appreciate excellent craftsmanship.
That’s how this course was born—from years of analyzing, experimenting, testing, and collecting. Think of it as a curated exhibition of shirting techniques, with me as the curator—bringing together the most refined methods and details from countless shirts.

What you’ll find inside:
- A focused series of shirt-making techniques, from collar and cuff construction to hem finishes and placket treatments
- Practice-based learning: you’ll create samples, just like in a design studio’s sample room
- Two shirt patterns to experiment with: the slim, dartless Delancey Shirt (included), and a new oversized shirt pattern currently in development (coming soon)
- Signature design details inspired by high-end ready-to-wear: including sleeve plackets from Saint Laurent and The Row, a two-tone collar from Balenciaga, and specialty finishes from Maison Margiela
- A platform to ask questions and share insights via our dedicated Discord group (we’ve moved from Slack so content doesn’t expire)
- Live Zoom sessions to cover your questions, share professional insights, and connect with fellow sewists (recordings provided)
- Lifetime access to the video lessons and all course content

You can apply the techniques taught here to any shirt pattern you like. I’ll walk you through how to adapt them with custom templates and small adjustments.
The original version of this course launched as a live experiment—with incredible feedback and contributions from the first group. Based on their input, this updated version includes better sample grading, additional design options like polo openings and side finishes, and extended pattern integration.
Course Details:
- Starts: May 18
- Format: Five live sessions (Sundays at 12 PM EST) + self-paced video modules
- Price: $150
- Access: Lifetime
Whether you’re a home sewist pushing your skills, or a professional looking to refine your technique, this course offers an in-depth exploration of shirt construction you won’t find anywhere else.
